Peer to Peer (P2P) communications for IoT

Peer to Peer IoT communications is the simplest way to address devices directly without incurring the high cost of the VPN. Each SIM card gets assigned a static IP and all devices in the group become directly addressable by the IP address on the LAN.

This IoT SIM card configuration allows devices to talk to each other directly, without going through the cloud or server. If one peer devices is set up on the server side as a router, then this network configuration will also allow direct IP access of all of the devices from that server, without running a VPN. This IoT device configuration is not as secure as having a dedicated VPN tunnel, but it is more secure than having general IoT devices running on a common APN. Adding a private, dedicated APN for the group of devices make this arrangement very secure.  The cost of setting up static IP addresses with this option is minimal, compared to other available fixed IP solutions, and is the least expensive way to secure your IoT/M2M devices.
